The Products
The Vintage Cosmetics Company Lashes - Connie (soft and natural)
(Full size £6.00 - here)
Again in my attempt to try every product in the box I tried these out and wore them for a night out even though I don't wear false eyelashes often at all. I applied the lashes with my own Eylure glue so I can't report of what the glue was like that came with it, but I'm sure it works fine. Personally for me these were a little too long and thin... I think they could have done with some shorter lashes to make them blend in better with my natural lashes. But having seen the Vintage Cosmetics Company Lashes range in person (they stock them in a large Tesco store I visit) they do have many different styles. So I was just a bit unlucky that I received this style... though having said that I find these a lot less daunting than heavy false eyelashes. A lovely product to include and at least I did get some use out of them but sadly the style wasn't for me.

Inika Vegan Lip Whip 8ml - Apricot
(Full size £14.30 - here)
My oh my how I like this product! When I first looked at it I thought it was just another lip gloss but this really is a 'lip whip' it is so light, non-sticky and glossy (what all lip glosses should be like in my eyes). It just really surprised me! Plus this actually smells/tastes like Terry's Chocolate Orange?! The shade on the lips is a dark nude that is so wearable and shiny. I'm so pleased to have discovered this product through the She Said Beauty Box.

Kim Kardashian perfume sample
(From £22.95 at full-size)
When I saw this I was quite excited as I love perfume samples that I actually recognise but sadly this was such a fail. Fail in the sense that I couldn't even test the perfume because the metal roller ball just wouldn't move/work! I don't think I was even the only one with this problem as I read a few reviews on the She Said Beauty website mentioning the same problem. But of course this isn't the fault of SSB but with the supplier of the perfume samples. So sadly I haven't even been able to use this.

Green People SPF 15 Sun Lotion with Tan Accelerator 20ml
(100ml size - £12.99 - here)
Another lovely product but sadly one I haven't been able to try out as the weather has been far from sunny. But this does smell very natural and also feels very light (I tried it on the back of my hand) also the tan accelerator aspect is really interesting as the product is of course natural. This will be going on my sample box for when I got on holiday later on in the year.

Natio Blue Lotus Soap
(Full size soap - can be bought as a mixed trio £8.50 - here)
It is probably quite sad of me to get excited over seeing a bar of soap in a beauty box but for me this wasn't just any old soap, oh no no! This is a Natio soap that is SLS'-free and also huge. So huge in fact that I cut it in half. The smell for me was slightly on the 'grandma' side but nothing too bad but what I loved about this was how creamy it was! I've never had a soap as creamy before, really very nice. As the soap comes as part of a trio I don't think I would be ever buy this for myself but I know I will be buying this at Christmas as a gift for someone or splitting the three soaps up. I'm really glad I discovered this actually.

Snowberry mixed samples
I'm sure some people won't have known of Snowberry skincare before trying out the 3 little sachet samples but I already love, love, love their cleanser even though it is quite pricey. So I was really pleased to be able to try more from the brand. My samples consisted of - Bright Defence Day Cream no.1, Nourishing Lite Day Cream and Bright Defence Face Serum. I really enjoyed all of the samples but the day cream no.1 I really enjoyed as it was for oily skin and was really nice and light. Really nice to have samples from a brand I already really like.

Positives
I really, really enjoyed that I knew of all the brands and that the products were current. For me this really made the box a huge treat. No brands I had never heard of or brands that only sold their product online. Also you have a bit of everything product and price wise. Plus three products are full size! For me this is the formula to a perfect box.

Negatives
My only negative would be the perfume sample that was faulty as it was just frustrating that the roller ball wouldn't move so I just couldn't use it at all.
I really think She Said Beauty are on the money with their boxes because they always include a good range of products and always team up with great brands!

So without further ado, here are all the free gifts available in July 2012...
Marie Claire August Issue (£3.70)
Choice of three full size Avon mascaras
Choice of Super Curlacious mascara, Super Shock Max Mascara or
Super Extend Extreme Mascara all worth up to £10. I decided to go for the Super Shock Max as I always like volume mascaras. Always love when magazines give away free mascaras! An excellent freebie.
Harper's Bazaar August Issue (£4.20)... Four pound twenty?! Crazy price.
Choice of two Neom Luxury Organics Hand Creams (50ml each)
Choice of either Inspiration (violet, chamomile & cederwood) or Complete Bliss hand cream (Moroccan blush rose). Full size hand creams are 75ml/£20.00 so this is a great free gift! I don't love Bazaar magazine but I do love Neom hand creams and I'm hoping the Inspiration hand cream has got a lovely strong violet scent to it. I have tried the Complete Bliss hand cream which is lovely fast absorbing cream with a spiced/herbal rose scent.
Elle magazine August Issue (£3.90)
Choice of two St Tropez Gradual Tan Body Moisturizers in two shades.
A choice of either Light/Medium or Medium/Dark 75ml in size. I only recently tried St Tropez for the first time with a gradual tan in the She Said Beauty Box and I was really impressed. If you are looking for a good quality tanning product then this is really worth a try for the price of the magazine.
Glamour mag August 2012 (£2.00)
Choice of 4 different Balance Me travel size products
Pure Skin Face Wash (50ml), Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve, Balancing Face Moisturizer (20ml) and Wonder Eye Cream (7ml). For £2.00 this is a great offer! I think I'm going to go for the Rose Otto Lip Salve.
Red magazine August Issue (£3.90)
Free REN skincare set worth £16
Contains Vetiver v7 Hand and Body Cream 15ml, Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream 15ml and Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel 3ml. I did actually get this set as a subscriber of Red magazine but I seem to have misplaced it! Arghh. I'm hoping I find it as I want to put it in my sample box for when I go away on holiday.
Cosmopolitan magazine August issue (£3.50)
Choice of three Missguided nail polishes
Pink, Orange and Yellow. All very neon/bright shades and perfect for summer. I will be giving this a miss as I don't really like Cosmo magazine but love the look of the pink and orange shades.
So there you have it. This month we have been spoilt for choice!
Would love to know which freebies you have picked up/are planning on picking up.

Today I wanted to talk about savvy shopping as I now do 80% of my shopping online and rarely pay full price for anything and also hunt down codes for free delivery.
My favourite place to do so is at My Voucher Codes and I now even print off vouchers as well as using the codes on the site... my last vouchers I used were for a free eye test (because I needed an up to date prescription to order some new glasses online - sneaky!) and a voucher for 20% off at Frankie & Benny's.

But my latest saving was with Debenhams voucher codes as I found a 10% off code on all cosmetics and also free delivery! I didn't go too mad but I placed a nice little order with MAC for a Paint Pot and two lipsticks (future post maybe?) and saved £4.00 or so, plus free delivery. The lipsticks actually worked out at only £12.50 each which I think is a really good price. Sadly the 10% code has now ended but I'm sure one will appear again, but at the moment the Blue Cross sale is on and also on the voucher codes website there is a code for free delivery for all Debenhams beauty club members, or I am sure you can sign up for a card whilst paying for your items and enter the code!
But whether you are shopping at Debenhams, New Look, ASOS, Dominos, Blockbuster... basically anywhere it is so worth looking to see if there are any codes available!

I made a bit of an alarming discovery at the weekend. I read back on my recent blog posts... there were posts on skincare, nails, freebies... but no makeup?!
It is not that I have gone off makeup but I have been buying a lot less because I have so much, so it's not been on my mind, if that makes sense! But that does need to change as I love talking about product I like. So what better way to get back in to it than to talk about the products I use without fail every time I apply my makeup.
All the products featured in this post are ones that I always use and never miss out. Were as foundation, blusher and lipstick change day-to-day. So I guess these really are favourites of mine now.
I've tried eye cream and have liked them but after a month or so I seem to get bored and it's because I don't really need to be thinking about eye wrinkles at my age! So I have started using what I feel is a more age appropriate eye product. This for me does what I need it to do, which is it wakes up my eyes before applying makeup and slightly plumps up the skin. The soothing/cooling aspect of the eye gel is what keeps me applying this daily as it keeps amazing on tired eyes and I do like the feeling of a gel over a cream I have discovered.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
11ml/£14.50 - Debenhams
I must have starting using this product around 4 years ago now (well not this exact tube!) and haven't been without it since. I use it under every eyeshadow I apply and even use it when I'm not wearing eyeshadow as it evens out the look of my eyelids. An amazing product and it lasts for such a long time - but remember to saw it open and scoop out the rest of the product once you think you are done because it's amazing how much is left that you can't reach with the older style of packaging.

HD Brows eye & brow palette in Foxy
£19.96 - Nouveau Beauty
This is my everyday brow palette that I never ever stray from. I use the bottom left shade the most to fill in my eyebrows but also use the bottom right shade on my lower lash line sometimes. I did stupidly somehow throw away the little angled brush that came with the palette that I really did like, so now I'm using an Eco Tools angled brush which isn't as stiff or as small as I'd like it for my eyebrows. But the powder is just great, you can really create perfect brows with this and it just doesn't budge!

Prestige My Longest Lashes
8ml/£6.99 - One Stop Beauty
(Prestige has sadly been discontinued in Boots)
Now I'm sure you are wondering if I only use one mascara! Oh no no, that would be madness. This is in fact my bottom lash mascara. You see I feel my eyes look a bit bare if I don't apply mascara but as I like volume mascaras they always look to heavy on my bottom lashes and I just don't suit it, so this is my only mascara for my bottom lashes as the brush is a rubber one with little spikes so doesn't put too much on to the lashes and it separates them nicely, plus with it being brown it never looks too much. Perfect!

Diego Dalla Palma Eyeliner in Brown
£15.00 - HQ Hair, select Tesco stores
Even if I'm not wearing that much makeup I always apply mascara and use this pencil before I do so, on my upper waterline to fill in my lash line a bit. Though sometimes I use it against the lash line and flick it out. It's not as harsh as black pencil eyeliner so it's great for daytime and it never moves! Plus it's actually a standard pencil eyeliner that isn't creamy (you know the ones that disappear after every use because they are so soft) so I have had this for the longest time now.

This powder is always the last step of my makeup. I use a fan brush and sweep this across my forehead, down my nose and on to my chin. As the powder is translucent it just takes any shine away especially when I'm using a dewy foundation. But without making the skin look cakey or dry. This really is the best powder I have tried and know I will never stray to another powder.
I must have talked about this so many times on Makeup Savvy! But I just think it is the best concealer ever for anyone that has oily skin with blemishes. I'm now lucky that I have quite clear skin but if I do get a spot it is normally on my chin and it's always quite oily (oversharing much?). So this is perfect as it is high in coverage and it also removes the oil on the blemish. So for this reason it isn't as amazing under the eyes as it can make the skin look a bit dry but for spot/scarring/blemishes this is just great. Though I do highly recommend Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as well! Amazing for under eyes.
This is the first thing I apply when I sit down to put on makeup as then it has time to soften the lips before apply lipstick. This has to be one of the nicest smelling lip balms I own... and I own more than a few (20 or so maybe eeeep!). It definitely smells like sweetened vanilla and it's just lovely. Sometimes I even sit there just inhaling the scent from the tin it's that nice!
My beloved bronzing powder that I use without fail... where would I be without you? With a round looking face I imagine. Even if I am in a rush I never leave out apply this bronzing powder with my favourite Sigma angled brush. But of course if I have the time I use this to contour under my cheekbones, temples and under my jaw. Also if I am looking a bit pale I sweep this down on to my neck and across my collarbone area. This smells lovely, is pretty much matte and the powder lasts the longest time... though I am just about out of it after 2-3 years!
I promise, promise, promise more makeup posts and reviews from now on!

A quick review for you this hopefully sunny Sunday morning. I'm sat here writing this on a Saturday night.. deary me! But I thought no time like the present as I have just got out of the shower after using the Naked Repairing Hair Treatment.
I have been a lover of Naked for a long time now, they were the first SLS-free shampoo I ever tried and I love all of their hair styling products - I really can't get enough of their Extra Shiny Finishing Serum, the smell and how it makes my hair look... amazing!
But I also love their sachets of hair treatments. Now I am pretty sure they did more hair treatments than this, I loved one that contained Buttermilk I'm sure... that is one of the things I dislike about Naked (though I love them for the most part) is that they seem to discontinue products quite often. I may never fully forgive them for discontinuing my beloved face wash that smelt of cookies! I digress... so anyway, this now seems to be their only hair treatment, which I don't mind as it is for frizzy/damaged hair - something I feel my hair could be described as if I don't tame it/use products on it (it's all the years of abuse through heat and hair dye).
How I use it!
Basically this is the hair treatment I have been using when I want to let my hair dry naturally without it being one massive frizz ball (one sachet is enough for even long hair). I apply this to ringed out hair after shampooing and comb it through with my Denman Be-Bop shower brush or Tangle Teezer, then I leave it on for the rest of the shower - so 10 minutes ish. Afterwards my hair is left feeling soft but not actually amazingly soft. But as it dries it is frizz-free nearly and the ends of my hair always look less tired and without split-ends! Just overall tamed and shiny.
The one thing that Naked could improve on is the scent... I'm thinking it is the 'Meadowfoam' which has quite a herbal scent that reminds me of starflower. It would just be nice for it to smell of something sweet or yummy.
The hair treatment can be purchased as a 20ml sachet for £1.29 (Naked online - here, KMI club - here or from Boots). Or in a big 400ml tub for £7.99 (Naked online - here, KMI club - here and also from Boots)
