Call it minimalism, call it 'on trend', or just a Spring clean, either way decluttering has become a bit of a hobby of mine recently. I've tackled my wardrobe, purged at least a quarter of my beloved candle collection (a big deal for me) and now I'm onto a complete makeup overhaul come declutter.
But it's a tough one... because I truly love makeup! However comparing my makeup process on holiday, with a quarter of my collection (if not less) to my standard hour-long application in front of my hoards of makeup, I know I much prefer the quicker simplistic approach. And to be honest, I think most people do, however much you love makeup, fashion or even candles. Choice equally decisions and decisions equal confusion and time.
When it comes to makeup storage I'm all about clear acrylic holders. Yes, I love the options that Muji storage gives but it can be a little pricey if you need a lot.
So I decided to head to eBay and pick up this amazingly cheap lipstick holder that fits in perfectly with the rest of my setup.
The acrylic/plastic storage is a tiered holder for lipsticks and lipglosses and can hold an impressive 24 products! The plastic does feel a little thinner than my Muju storage but that really doesn't change anything. You can find the lipstick holder here from an international seller (no custom charges to pay though!) for only £2.81 with free p&p. This does take a little time to arrive (around 3 weeks) but is 100% worth the wait.
My reason for buying this, other than it being extremely cheap, was to free up some space in my Muju drawers for more makeup products and I have successfully done that!
As you can see I have 3 tiers of lipsticks and 1 tier of lipglosses. These are all my current favourites that I reach for often so it made sense to have them displayed out on my makeup table. I also think it makes for a really nice display!
I thought I'd mention this holder as I'm so pleased with it for the amazing price and I know a lot of people are tempted by Muji Acrylic storage but not the price.

I made a bit of an alarming discovery at the weekend. I read back on my recent blog posts... there were posts on skincare, nails, freebies... but no makeup?!
It is not that I have gone off makeup but I have been buying a lot less because I have so much, so it's not been on my mind, if that makes sense! But that does need to change as I love talking about product I like. So what better way to get back in to it than to talk about the products I use without fail every time I apply my makeup.
All the products featured in this post are ones that I always use and never miss out. Were as foundation, blusher and lipstick change day-to-day. So I guess these really are favourites of mine now.
I've tried eye cream and have liked them but after a month or so I seem to get bored and it's because I don't really need to be thinking about eye wrinkles at my age! So I have started using what I feel is a more age appropriate eye product. This for me does what I need it to do, which is it wakes up my eyes before applying makeup and slightly plumps up the skin. The soothing/cooling aspect of the eye gel is what keeps me applying this daily as it keeps amazing on tired eyes and I do like the feeling of a gel over a cream I have discovered.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
11ml/£14.50 - Debenhams
I must have starting using this product around 4 years ago now (well not this exact tube!) and haven't been without it since. I use it under every eyeshadow I apply and even use it when I'm not wearing eyeshadow as it evens out the look of my eyelids. An amazing product and it lasts for such a long time - but remember to saw it open and scoop out the rest of the product once you think you are done because it's amazing how much is left that you can't reach with the older style of packaging.

HD Brows eye & brow palette in Foxy
£19.96 - Nouveau Beauty
This is my everyday brow palette that I never ever stray from. I use the bottom left shade the most to fill in my eyebrows but also use the bottom right shade on my lower lash line sometimes. I did stupidly somehow throw away the little angled brush that came with the palette that I really did like, so now I'm using an Eco Tools angled brush which isn't as stiff or as small as I'd like it for my eyebrows. But the powder is just great, you can really create perfect brows with this and it just doesn't budge!

Prestige My Longest Lashes
8ml/£6.99 - One Stop Beauty
(Prestige has sadly been discontinued in Boots)
Now I'm sure you are wondering if I only use one mascara! Oh no no, that would be madness. This is in fact my bottom lash mascara. You see I feel my eyes look a bit bare if I don't apply mascara but as I like volume mascaras they always look to heavy on my bottom lashes and I just don't suit it, so this is my only mascara for my bottom lashes as the brush is a rubber one with little spikes so doesn't put too much on to the lashes and it separates them nicely, plus with it being brown it never looks too much. Perfect!

Diego Dalla Palma Eyeliner in Brown
£15.00 - HQ Hair, select Tesco stores
Even if I'm not wearing that much makeup I always apply mascara and use this pencil before I do so, on my upper waterline to fill in my lash line a bit. Though sometimes I use it against the lash line and flick it out. It's not as harsh as black pencil eyeliner so it's great for daytime and it never moves! Plus it's actually a standard pencil eyeliner that isn't creamy (you know the ones that disappear after every use because they are so soft) so I have had this for the longest time now.

This powder is always the last step of my makeup. I use a fan brush and sweep this across my forehead, down my nose and on to my chin. As the powder is translucent it just takes any shine away especially when I'm using a dewy foundation. But without making the skin look cakey or dry. This really is the best powder I have tried and know I will never stray to another powder.
I must have talked about this so many times on Makeup Savvy! But I just think it is the best concealer ever for anyone that has oily skin with blemishes. I'm now lucky that I have quite clear skin but if I do get a spot it is normally on my chin and it's always quite oily (oversharing much?). So this is perfect as it is high in coverage and it also removes the oil on the blemish. So for this reason it isn't as amazing under the eyes as it can make the skin look a bit dry but for spot/scarring/blemishes this is just great. Though I do highly recommend Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as well! Amazing for under eyes.
This is the first thing I apply when I sit down to put on makeup as then it has time to soften the lips before apply lipstick. This has to be one of the nicest smelling lip balms I own... and I own more than a few (20 or so maybe eeeep!). It definitely smells like sweetened vanilla and it's just lovely. Sometimes I even sit there just inhaling the scent from the tin it's that nice!
My beloved bronzing powder that I use without fail... where would I be without you? With a round looking face I imagine. Even if I am in a rush I never leave out apply this bronzing powder with my favourite Sigma angled brush. But of course if I have the time I use this to contour under my cheekbones, temples and under my jaw. Also if I am looking a bit pale I sweep this down on to my neck and across my collarbone area. This smells lovely, is pretty much matte and the powder lasts the longest time... though I am just about out of it after 2-3 years!
I promise, promise, promise more makeup posts and reviews from now on!

Part deux of my makeup collection!
For someone that claims to not really love lip products it was a bit of a surprise that I own around 40 lipsticks! However thinking about it I do wear lipstick or lipgloss daily and always have 3 or 4 lipsticks in my handbag - so maybe I do have a secret love for them after all.
The older I get the more daring I seem to be with my lip colour choices and do now enjoy wearing red and plum shades! Though nude lipsticks will always be comfort blanket.
Summer picks...
In summer my choice of lipstick changes dramatically and instead of reaching for just nude shades I love something a bit more fresh and vibrant and also something that is quite hydrating.
17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick Peace
(£4.59 Boots)
The 17 Mirror Shine range is actually one of my favourite ranges of lipsticks! They are all just so wearable, non-drying and glossy. Peace actually looks super bright in the bullet (actually a lot brighter than in the picture) but don't let that put you off as on the lips it is just a lovely fresh pink/coral shade that looks really juicy! I also love how this shade in particular has a kind of jelly look to it... hard to explain but it just makes you want to apply it, especially in summer. If you are looking for a perfect summer lipstick then definitely pop into Boots and have a look at the tester!
Natural Collection Moisture Shine Pink Mallow
(£1.99 Boots)
This is my 'lips but better and slightly pinker' lipstick that I seem to reach for a lot when the weather starts coming nicer. The whole Natural Collection lipstick range is pretty great for the price and I always find all of the shades quite flattering, especially this one. The Moisture Shine range isn't overly moisturising but they always feel comfortable on the lips and never feel drying. Just a really nice shade that cannot be faulted.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Cherries in the Snow
(£2.99 Cosmetic Diva or Boots for £6.49)
Cherries In The Snow is just one of those shades that looks great on everyone! It is just a really flattering shade with a lot of depth if that makes sense. It is however quite a bold shade but for me it is a lot more wearable than a red but still gives that brightening effect to the face and can pick up any makeup look. Which is why in summer I carry this in my bag and if I have been out all day and looking a bit rubbish (hay fever is normally to blame) I just apply this and it just lights up my face and makes me look healthy and awake again! A classic shade and one to go for it you are trying to be braver with colour!
Favourites...
Not much to explain here. My favourites are just the lipsticks that I love everything about. From the shade to the shade name to the formula to the finish... just everything!
Guerlain KissKiss Baby Lip Balm Romantic Nude 260
(£21.00 Strawberrynet)
Now this is one pricey lip balm but for me this is a nude/rose lipstick that has the added benefit of being nicely hydrating. The reason why this is one of my favourites? The shade, the formula and of course the amazing packaging! Of course it was the lovely, weighty, perfect packaging that first attracted me but since since buying it I have come to rely on this shade when my lips are needing a bit of TLC. Really pretty and all round lovely!
NYX Strawberry Milk
(£3.50 NYX)
This against my pale skin is super pale and very pink but I think I can just about pull it off! The shade is definitely not a shade I normally go for but I just love how it looks on the lips and constantly wear this in summer (it should have really been in my summer picks). This is also the most perfect formula I have ever tried.. well the whole range is. Just sooo creamy and perfect which is another huge reason why I adore this shade.
Vivo Barely There
(£1.99 Selected Tesco stores)
Barely There is without a doubt my favourite nude lipstick as it just suits my complexion so well and it's only £1.99! But aside from it being the perfect nude for me the smell is quite similar to that of the MAC lipsticks (slightly more synthetic smelling) and this just glides onto the lips and is so hydrating. It doesn't last amazingly well but I really wouldn't want to compromise of the creamy formula for a few more hours wear. If you do like your nude lipsticks then 100% try this out as it's just amazing for under £2!
Most worn...
Now you would think that my most worn would also be my favourite lipsticks but I must say my most worn lipsticks are the ones that I just feel more comfortable wearing. Ones that I don't need a mirror to apply and I know will look good whatever my makeup looks like. Basically these lipsticks are my comfort blanket that I reach for the most.
Vivo Barely There
(£1.99 Tesco)
I won't repeat myself as this is already above in my favourite lipsticks. But this actually is my most worn lipstick! For the price I am thinking about purchasing another just to keep in my handbag as I always need this with me. Just so creamy, glossy and perfect!
17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick Beehive
(£4.59 Boots)
For me this is a lipstick/lipgloss/lip balm hybrid. It just ticks all the right boxes and when I'm unsure of what to go for - lipsgloss or lipstick, I go for this. It is of course nude but quite sheer and glossy with a slightly tacky-ness to it which makes it last on the lips. I also find myself applying this over bolder lipsticks to calm them down a bit and to give them a slight glossy finish. The swatch really doesn't do the lipstick any justice though!
L'Oreal Studio Secrets Universal Lip Glow
(£8.49 Tesco/Boots/Superdrug)
When I spotted this in Tesco my eyes literally lit up as I hadn't seen anything about the product and had been lusting after the Clarins Crystal lip balms for so long but just couldn't warrant spending £14 on one. Now probably to most this isn't amazing as it is quite sheer and just gives a hint of pink to the lips. But for me it's just love, especially on the days when I just can't be bothered with wearing anything on the lips. This also smells juicy and always makes me think of Push Pops (anyone remember those?!) so I do have to resist taking a bite!

Dislikes...
These are my 'what the hell was I thinking' lipsticks... and oh there were quite a few! Of course with all lipsticks you can tell how unloved or loved they are by how much is left and I was really shocked at how much I had used some of the ones that made me cringe. I mean when did I ever wear frosted coral lipstick?!
Max Factor Colour Collections Lipstick Cappuccino Latte
(£7.99 Boots)
Really what is this shade?! It is just such a boring and rubbish shade. Actually close up this doesn't look too bad but if you look closely you can see how this is quite patchy and that is just a swatch on my arm. Now just imagine it on the lips clinging to every morsel of dry skin. It just looks terrible. Awful. Awful. Awful.
Barry M Lip Paint Coral 53
(£4.04 Amazon)
To my horror this has clearly been worn quite a few times but I'm not sure by whom as I have zero recollection of wearing this. I mean I know I could never pull of a frost coral shade so why did I ever wear this?! Just why?! This will just have to go in the bin so that I can never become delirious again and think for some reason I can pull this shade off.
Vivo Sugar Pink
(£1.99 Tesco)
Maybe I am being slightly harsh on this lipstick. But I remember buying this and ooo-ing in my head when I looked at it's pearly-ness in the bullet. But when I got home and tried this on my lips it was just way to pearly and frosty and just all wrong. Sadly the swatch doesn't show how pearly it is, but trust me it ain't pretty. This just reminds me of when I first got into make-up around the age of 14 and loved anything that was this shade be it lipstick, eyeshadow or blusher! Vivo definitely need to calm down with the shimmer and stick to finishes like Barely There.
Whilst on the topic of lipstick I want to direct you to a new blog that is all about lipstick! The Lipstick blog - a blog solely about lipstick, wrote by the lovely Maxi who is a self confessed lipstick addict! I mean she owns 41 MAC lipsticks (actually 43 now... or 45 by the time you read this!) which outshines my whole lipstick collection. So if you want to be pretty jealous and also see lots of lip of the day posts then definitely have a read of The Lipstick Blog!
Ideas of what part of my collection to show next would be great!

So I thought it was about time I revealed how much makeup I actually own and what I actually have!
As my makeup is spread out in different places and I do own quite a lot I thought it would be best to split up the posts... which also means I can ramble more about the products I use/like/don't like etc.
So first up is Blush! Now I wouldn't actually say I am that in love with blusher however I think I must be as I have quite a few now and naughty didn't even hunt down all of the blushers I own.. so the above image is my blush collection plus around 5/6 more. So I do own around 30 blushers which I'm not sure if that is a lot or not! I would really love if people could share with me how many they own so I could put it into perceptive a bit!
Favourites...
1. Topshop Cream Blush Neon Rose
(£6.00 Topshop)
This is my perfect summer time blush. From the packaging to the formula everything about this is perfect! The shade is a lovely peachy pink that blends into the skin perfectly with it's cream to powder formula which is great for oily skin or warm weather. On myself this lasts all day and just looks pretty and healthy on the cheeks. Also comes with a good sized mirror inside.
2. Benefit Bella Bamba 3D Pink
(£23.50 Look Fantastic)
I so didn't want to get sucked into the whole 3D blusher thing as I just didn't believe it could be better than a normal blusher... but oh, how I fell hook, line and sinker in love with this! I use this when I want to look really radiant and just 'done'. It is hard to explain but this just has the perfect amount of shimmer/highlight and is such a perfect shame.. oh and you cannot beat the scent of this - just lovely!
3. The Balm Frat Boy
(£13.00 Bath & Unwind)
I received this in a Carmine Beauty Box and initially thought 'wow, The Balm!' but then I looked at the shade and though 'meh, this looks a bit bland' but then after I used this I was back to 'wow' as this suits my pale skin like no other blush has ever done before. This to me is a light matte apricot shade that is nicely milled and applies really nicely to give a lovely flush to the cheeks that never looks over done. I have used this so much since receiving it and just cannot get over how well it goes with my skin.

Ones I should use more...
1. No7 Natural Blush in Candy Pink
(£9.50 Boots)
I actually really enjoy using this blush once summer hits but sadly this is totally unloved the rest of the time. The reason for this is at that due to it being a light but fairly bright pink I like to wear it when only wearing mascara, a bit of foundation and some lip balm as the blush just makes me look wide awake and pretty. Though sadly the prices of No7 products have really increased in recent years so I would only suggest picking up this when the £5 voucher offer is on.
2. The Balm Hot Mama
(£12.50 Bath & Unwind)
I shamefully cannot say why I do not use this as much as I should. When I first purchased this I used it so much, but as my blush collection grew it sadly got forgotten about which is crazy as it is an amazing blusher. This is basically a more pigmented and slightly more peach version of Nars Orgasm and I am tempted to say that I prefer it to Orgasm and really how cute is the packaging?! Honestly if you are thinking of purchasing Nars Orgasm please don't get seduced by name or the clic black packaging this is Nars, but go for this as it contains so much more product, is a lot cheaper and is more intense!
3. Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Pink Cloud
(£1.99 Boots)
Again no excuses for not using this as it's a lovely soft pink blush that applies so nicely. For only £1.99 this isn't actually that chalky and feels so soft. I am definitely going to stick this on my desk and use it as it really is a great shade to wear in spring. I also think I need to pick up Peach Melba now after Meg from Lips So Facto compared it to MAC's Melba blush - here.

New loves...
1. Nars Bronzing Blush Duo in Orgasm/Laguna
(£29.00 Nars)
You could officially call this my first ever Nars product as up until recently I hadn't purchased anything from Nars. But then I spotted (this) which is the Nars Wicked Attraction gift set which can be exclusively found at ASOS for £35.00 and contains four products. The gift set really is beautiful and I have been enjoying all of the products, but I actually wanted the set for the blush/bronzer duo . Like Benefit's Bella Bamba and The Balm's Hot Mama this is an amazing blush for making the cheekbones look high and gives an all round radiant look!
2. Becca Beach Tint in Watermelon
(£20.oo Zuneta)
I receive this with the Febuary Glossybox and when I spotted it my heart may just of skipped a beat as Becca products are pretty high end and are constantly raved about by the Pixiwoo sisters. The tint really is just perfection, it applies like a dream and looks so natural and again like Benefit Bella Bamba the scent is to die for. I can see this being bumped up to my favourites very soon!

Dislikes...
1. New CID i-bronze Compact Powder in Rio
(£19.40 Feel Unique)
So this may not be techically classed as a blusher as it is called 'i-bronze' but quite a bit of the veining in the product is a dusky pink so it is kind of a blusher/bronzer. Now I have tried so hard to like this and I do when/if I have a tan. Without a tan this is just far too muddy for my skin tone and also excessively shimmery, which I really feel isn't needed. I need to admit that this product just doesn't work for me and sell it in a blog sale.
2. Revolution Madina Crystal Glass Blush in 669
(22 euros)
This has to be the oddest formula I have ever used with any product! This is probably impossible to explain but to the touch this feels like rubber but then when applying it to the skin it feels more powder-like with quite little pigmentation. But this is easily buildable so it theory I shouldn't dislike it as much as I do... but it really is just the texture that I cannot get use to or understand.
3. Jelly Pong Pong Cheek Puff in Fluffy
(£12.50 Jelly Pong Pong)
For the price and the packaging the product inside just seems all wrong to me. I was thinking this would be a smooth, lovely cream blush that was nicely scented and of good quality. But sadly this is quite a sticky formula that just doesn't blend well at all and cream blush should always blend well. For the price you really would expect something a lot better. Also something that bugs me with this product is actually how much product you do get.. 10.7g for a cream blush is way too much and no one could go though that amount before it drying up or going out of date.

Hope this has been slightly interesting! Would really love to know how many blushers you own.
Next up I think it may have to be foundations or brushes!
Fee xo.
