6 Best Spring Lipsticks - Spring 2017

Come Spring I always find myself rediscovering all the pretty and flattering lipsticks within my makeup collection. These are the staples that I rely on from the beginning of Spring to the very end of Summer. Because simply put, there's just something about a pretty pink or nude shade!

Of course, liquid lipsticks still get a look in but I'm truly all about my stash of trusty lipsticks that feel comfortable on the lips while staying put. Below I've rounded up six spring lipsticks that I feel are worthy of your attention from a few overlooked shades to recent Spring 2017 releases.

Worth the Splurge:

Burt's Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin
£9.99 Feel Unique
First up, enter Burt's Bees recently launched and first ever lipstick range! This satin to glossy finish range comes with a nourishing and hydrating formula and is the perfect handbag accessory for throwing on as a wearable flattering lip this Spring/Summer. Deeply nourishing and comfortable to wear this does mean it isn't the most long-lasting of lipsticks but I'm kinda' ok with that due to the fact you're getting a hydrating and easy to wear lipstick. As for the shade 'Blush Basin' it's a flattering rosy-nude that will suit a lot of different skin tones. For me, this is a shade to go for when I can't make my mind up, as it's neutral and goes with any kind of makeup and outfit. I love this shade in particular but would suggest looking at the entire shade range if this has peaked your interest as there as so many other flattering lip colours within the collection that are perfect for Spring.

Side note: I decided to place this in my 'worth the splurge' section as I personally feel anything around or above the £10 mark is creeping into higher-end makeup territory!

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup
£16.50 John Lewis or all MAC counters
A cult classic here from MAC but actually a lipstick I've only recently acquired thanks to my blogger friend, Tanzina (Makeup A to Z) as she knew my MAC lipstick collection was on the slim side. MAC describe this formula and shade as a "cream based, soft and supple shine lipstick in a neutral pink tone with a pearl finish" and that pretty much sums up this lipstick. I would add that this is a light pink, although neutral, and looks very different on different skin tones. Against my pale skin this is more of a subtle light pink shade which actually brings a bit of luminosity to my face making it a lovely springtime choice. This isn't for everyone but it's a really nice lipstick none the less.

Kat Von D 'Studded Kiss' Lipstick in Magick
£17.00 Debenhams
When putting this post together I instantly knew I had to include this lipstick. Although a darker dusky pink nude shade against my fair skin this is a true staple in my collection and a lipstick I will be wearing all spring/summer. The reason for this is that not only is it flattering but it stays pull nearly all day without feeling dry on the lips. Unlike most other lipsticks this does have a slightly gritty feel to it, this may be the micro shimmer or it could be the slightly waxy feeling formula but this lipstick really does grip onto the lips and is pretty much waterproof through both eating and drinking. Going back to the shimmer finish this is what give this would be matte lipstick, life. The shimmer isn't really detectable unless you look up close to the lips in good lighting, but helps to give the lips a flattering demi-matte finish. A lovely slightly deeper dusky pink shade here that will suit the masses.

On a Budget:

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Pink Fling
£6.99 Feel Unique
If you are looking for a creamy spring pink lipstick then look no further than Maybelline's Pink Fling. This medium-toned flattering pink lip colour is one that will suit all skin tones and with a little grip to it last pretty well on the lips for a drugstore lipstick. It's easy to overlook Maybelline lip products with so many rival beauty brands launching exciting new products monthly but this is definitely a shade and a range to look at!

Seventeen Mega Matt Lip Colour in The Coral of the Story
£4.49 Boots
Another lipstick range that I believe is totally overlooked is the Seventeen Mega Matt range which includes 12 shades. Within the range are some stunning lip colours, including this medium bright pink with subtle coral undertones. What I love about this matte lipstick is that although it appears pretty matte on the lips it feels like a regular formula and isn't drying in the least. This is bright at it gets for me for daytime lipsticks and I don't know what I'd do without this shade in Spring/Summer.

Topshop Beauty Lips in Innocent
£8.00  Feel Unique or Topshop in-store
Lastly, I had to include another long-standing spring staple pink lipstick within my collection. If you are looking for an ultra smooth wearable cool toned pink then this is the shade to go for! With a blue undertones this is a surprisingly flattering shade that almost looks like a dusky pink on the lipstick. For the price this really reminds me of a MAC lipstick in formula, feeling so smooth and comfortable on the lips while being pigmentated and long lasting. A bit of a hidden gem now the hype of Tophops's makeup range has long since died down.

I'd love to know what your favourite shade is from this little lot! I personally cannot decide but rediscovering Topshop's Innocent lipstick has pretty much made my week!

Fee xo.
