5 Early Autumn Rituals I'm Already Enjoying

With just over a week until it's officially Autumn I thought a little lifestyle type post was in order to share my love of the impending season.

I've been autumn ready for weeks so I thought I would share some of the enjoyable pastimes I've been getting up to which I find relaxing and perfect for this time of year. From upping my skin care game with glow-enhancing face masks and facial oils to dusting off my slow cooker for a few comforting dishes both savoury and sweet.

Candle, candles, candle!
Burning candles is an all year affair for me. However, come crisper days and cosy evenings I ramp things up a bit, buying new seasonal candles and digging out my gourmand stash. So far I've picked up a gorgeously scent White Pumpkin candle from DW Home Candles found at Homesense which I've been burning during the day. But I'm eager to pick up a new candle from Village Candle; my favourite candle brand that impresses me much more than Yankee Candle due to its authentic scents. If you are looking for something new I highly recommend Village Candle Brownie Delight HERE, which smells exactly like you've been baking brownies, or Warm Buttered Bread HERE, which is more on the savoury side and just so authentic and homely - a real treat!

Reading before bed
As the evenings start to draw in and seem longer I like to start getting into the routine of going to bed an hour earlier to read. Not only is this super relaxing and cosy but it means I'm able to indulge in my passion for reading that bit more and get through my Autumn reading list (blog post to come soon). I'm currently finishing Dear Amy by Helen Callaghan, a thriller well suited to this time of year, along with How To Stop Time by Matt Haig.

One-pot comfort food
I'm all about comfort food on cold rainy days so for that reason my slow cooker has already had its first use of the new season. I got into trying one-pot recipes a few years ago and love how easy they are and how they fill the home with lovely aromas throughout the day. My go-to autumn recipe is Syn Free Campfire Stew which I love even though I'm not on a diet or following Slimming World. It has such a wonderful smokey taste to it that makes it perfect for both autumn and winter. Another favourite is cooking rice pudding in my slow cooker, which you can find a recipe for here.

Autumn Walks
Other than enjoying how cosy the new season can be in the evening I live for bright crisp autumn days. These are ideal for going on walks to enjoy the changing colours and wildlife. I've already been out to forage pine cones for autumn displays and can't wait until the trees start to change colour and drop their leaves. I'm even planning a trip to the Lake District this autumn purely for the stunning scenery.

Nourishing yet glow-inducing skincare
Lastly, I've been really enjoying switching up my skincare to achieve a bit more of a glow to my skin. My number one product for this is Fresh Vitamin Nectar Face Mask which makes my skin glow like no other mask I've used before. It also helps that it smells incredibly fresh and like orange marmalade! As for moisturiser, I'm still using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (you can find the post where I rave about it here) which is incredibly light yet hydrating and makes a perfect base to be mixed with more nourishing facial oils to get that glow before applying foundation. I'm currently enjoying the new Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Facial Oil which works a treat and smell amazing but if you are on a budget then the Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil works well.

I'd love to know what you've already been getting up to if you're also a fan of Autumn!

P.S. If you are wondering what that gorgeous copper nail polish is in the first image it's Essie Leggy Legend which I picked up for such a bargain here.

Fee xo.
