It's All About The Eye Liners!

When it comes to eyeliner I own quite a lot as I wear it almost daily in one form or another. I am actually tempted to say I own every high-street gel liner available - Sleek, Maybelline, ELF, Barbara Daly, Avon, L'Oreal.

Recently though L'Oreal have brought out quite a few new products that I have been pretty impressed with - my favourite new product from L'Oreal is their Lumi Magique (my review), just a perfectly light and luminous foundation.

But back on the eyeliner front the two new offerings are the L'Oreal Super Liner Gel Intenza (£8.99) and Super Liner Perfect Slim (£6.49)

(swatch at bottom of post)

Firstly I must say L'Oreal have got the packaging spot on - the eyeliner comes in a nice sturdy glass pot with a plastic gold looking lid and even the eyeliner brush comes with a proper plastic lid (which means the eyeliner on the brush won't make the brush hard in between uses). So on the packaging front everything is perfect.

As for the actual gel eyeliner, this is a very smooth, creamy liner that applies really well. Though I am tempted to say the formula is too creamy than it needs to be, so wouldn't be so great on oily eyelids or even in summer as I really doubt this would last all day without smudging. However for me with a good primer on my lids this does last all day... but the true test would be in summer as I say. Compared to my favourite gel eyeliner - Maybelline's Lasting Drama Eye Liner (£7.99), I would say it depends on what you are looking for. If you love a creamy liner that creates a clean smooth line in one swoop then the L'Oreal one is for you. If you prefer a thicker formula that has great pigmentation and won't move then it's Maybelline all the way.

Both the Maybelline and L'Oreal liners come with an eyeliner brush and I must say both are really handy if you don't own a liner brush or just don't want to be using an existing brush. I especially love that the L'Oreal one comes with an actual lid as this really is needed even if you do wipe of the excess liner after each use. Though if I had to compare both brushes I would say I do prefer the Maybelline one as it is just a nicer shape and gives a more precise line. Having said that though both brush are nice additions to the eye liners.

Now sadly I cannot compare this to the much loved L'Oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss as I have never tried it (maybe I should!). But I am a lot more comfortable with a felt tip liner as I just feel I have more control and there is less chance of making a mistake. Again I must say I am really impressed with the packaging... so well thought out with the rubber grip - I am impressed! As for the eyeliner pen itself it does have a lovely nib that can create a really fine line which is great if you just want to fill in at the base of the lashes and don't want anything that noticeable. Or you can create a nice feline flick with this or even build it up to a thick line. It is basically very versatile. This also does really last all day on the eyes with no smudging what so ever and definitely no tight feeling which you can get with some liners (I own a Lavera liner that is terrible for that).

But sadly like most products there has to be at least one downside and for this it is the pigmentation. It isn't shocking (far from it) but it really isn't as black as I would of liked, especially with the shade being 'Intense Black'. Though this definitely isn't the worst I have tried for pigmentation at least, so I am maybe being a little harsh!

Overall for £6.49 this is definitely worth it if you want a liner that will give a very precise line and won't smudge or fade during the day.

Now silly me removed some other swatches from my arm with makeup remove before doing these swatches, which is why both do look like they have bled! So not the best of swatches really!

I honestly think if you are looking for a good all round gel eyeliner then go for the Maybelline Lasting Drama Liner but if you do want a really smooth application then you can't go wrong with the new L'Oreal Gel Intenza (unless you have quite oily lids).

As for the Super Liner Perfect Slim I really am impressed!

Fee xo.
