Winter Reading

The Goddess Experience

In winter (even though it's not winter) when it has gone dark I like to turn off the TV and my laptop and sit nice and warm and read a book. I generally read fictional books in summer and then in winter I always read ones that I can dip in and out of, that are inspiring/creative.

Which is why I'm currently loving two old favourites - The Goddess Experience (Amazon - £9.09) and Lessons of a Lipstick Queen (Amazon - £14.44)

Lessons of a Lipstick Queen (look inside via Amazon) is like no other book I have ever read. It is of course about the career of Poppy King and how she built up her lipstick empire, which is just so interesting. But it is also about developing your own ideas that can really turn into something great. The book is set out in lessons such as - Lesson 1: Everyone have ideas, Lesson 32: Sometimes, a dollar is more than just a dollar, Lesson 51: Don't follow the competition. With 'My Story' sections after each lesson which is Poppy's own story but it also relates to the lesson she has just explained. Of course if you are a fan of Poppy King you could just read all the 'My Story' parts which are very interesting, but this is such a perfect in depth book if you always have ideas or dreams of creating something/working for yourself. This book never fails to motivate me and I seem to learn something new every time I read it.

The Goddess Experience is probably the closest book I have read that is like an amazing blog but in book form... which sounds a bit of an odd thing to say I know. But the book is a mixture of different subjects ;- fashion, food, travel, beauty, recipes, art and everything is just so beautifully displayed with cute illustrations, every page is creative - like a really cool blog such as In The Gloss. I can't even start to go into what is in this book as there is just so much. But I will say there are lots of tips and information on all different things and amazing interviews with Vivienne Westwood and Paul Smith. There are also some lovely recipes in the book - Goddess Wicked Swirl Cupcakes, an amazing roast chicken recipe, perfect Roast Potatoes and a whole section on burgers. If you are into everything and like things a bit quirky and creative then this is such a great book and also one of the best books to give as a gift. Also the first Goddess Guide book is just as amazing if not more, but it's no longer available to buy from Amazon sadly!

Both books really are so unique and interesting which is why I purchased copies of both books to giveaway come December for my lovely Christmas Giveaways!

Fee xo.
