Autumn Beauty Favourites

favourite autumn products

With a change of season I always switch up my makeup and purchase new products (actually everything is new except for two products here). Autumn for me is more about lips than eyes and also radiant but pale skin.

On my nails I like mauve/nude shades or berry shades with unique top coats, not just your average glitter nail polish. So I have picked out a few products that I have been constantly loving and using...

Lush skin tint

Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint
£12.00/20g - Lush online here
I love my cream highlighters, with Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl and High Beam being my favourites. But now I have a new favourite in the Lush multi-purpose highlighter. I have been using this mixed in with my moisturiser then applying a light BB cream for a lovely dewy glow or sometimes I just mix this straight in my with foundation making my skin look a bit more radiant. I also dot a tiny amount along my cheek and brow bones to highlight them once I have done my makeup. What I think I love most about this is that you can't actually feel it on the skin at all and it just blends in so well. But I also love that it is a subtle highlighter that can be used in so many different ways.

Avon Perfect Wear Liquid Eye Liner Pen - Brown
£3.32 - eBay UK Seller here
In the last 5 years I don't think I have ever gone without eyeliner of some kind when wearing makeup - even when just walking the dog! So I am a huge eyeliner lover with quite an array of gel, pencil, powder and pen style eyeliners. I especially love winged out eyeliner but sometimes it can look a little full on for during the daytime so I went in search for a brown eye liner pen and I literally couldn't find one anywhere! But then I found this on by Avon on eBay and had to buy it at under £4. Now I will admit it isn't that 'wet' of an eyeliner and does take some shaking to get the eyeliner flowing, but once you do it applies really nicely with the firm nib which you can either use just the tip of for a really fine line or at a slight angle for a thicker line. It also lasts all day on me and doesn't flake or rub off. Just great for a winged out eyeliner look during the day.

NYX Round Lipstick Hero

NYX Round Lipstick - Hero
£3.50 - NYX online here
The NYX round lipsticks are without a doubt my favourite lipsticks, yes even more so than MAC lipsticks! They are pigmented, creamy, hydrating and cheap... not to mention the 144 shades to pick from! During summer I am a fan of their nude shades and have around 4 now but come autumn/winter I look forward to wearing their darker shades as they are so comfortable to wear and pigmented, which gives the huge benefit of them leaving a stain to the lips when they wear off. Hero is just one of the most amazing deep/red lipsticks I have actually come across and I'm now annoyed that I didn't actually give you a proper lip swatch as it is just so pretty, but if you are interested here is a swatch on Temptalia. The shade does look quite different on paler lips/fair skin tones but it does give you a good idea of how pigmented and rich the shade is.

I'm just totally in love with this shade right now. I think I may have to do a NYX lipstick collection post quite soon!

China Glaze Hunger Games

Sleek Blusher - Pomegranate
£4.49 - Sleek online here or Superdrug
For me this is an ideal blush for autumn. It just gives that winter flush that can warm up any makeup and brighten the face. I would describe the shade as a burgundy pink with a slight gold shimmer to it. As with all Sleek blushers this is super pigmented so a light hand is needed, though for darker skin tones it means you can easily build up the colour. Actually did you know that the Sleek website now show swatches on fair, medium and dark skin - how good is that! Also last week I used this blusher on my eyes, blended in with shadows from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and it looked really nice.

China Glaze Fast Track & Nuber Glitter 2010 Top Coat
£6.95 - Beauty Bay here
It was only a few days ago that I wrote a post on China Glaze Fast Track (here) and that I was a little disappointed with it. However I did fail to mention how I like wearing it with Nubar Glitter 2012 over the top of it, which just brings it to life! The wonderful Nuber flakies nail polish just magnifies the gold particles in Fast Track and it just makes it a lot more interesting. Sadly though I couldn't find a link to the Nubar polish (NOTD swatches here) as it's nowhere to be found online! Such a shame as really this is an amazing nail polish.

I really do enjoy autumn makeup, I'm not sure what it is about it but I just feel like I start re-discovering makeup products. I have even found myself using my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette again which has been naughtily unloved for quite some time and I am also enjoying dark lipsticks so much at the moment
