Friday Favourites - September #1

1

It's finally Fridayyy! And I'm back with my favourites for this week. From some new bargain non-beauty buys to my favourite nude lipsticks that I can't get enough of.

I feel like I need to ramble about all of them so I'm going to get straight into it!

Ciate Meet me in Mayfair Nail Polish
£6.00 - Asos here
I featured this lovely nail polish in a recent wish list for autumn and decided to snap it up while it was still reduced. Since getting it it's been on my nails all week over Revlon Autumn Spice but I'm so excited to see what it looks like over different nail polishes... I can see it looking amazing over grey/greige shades to really show off the different coloured strands. This just feels like such an autumnal top coat because it reminds me of wheatgerm... I know a strange comparison!

Hobbs Mini Tablet/iPad Holder
£10 (was £39) - Hobbs here
After getting an iPad Mini I was in dire need of a case, but when it comes to cases/covers I'm picky. I considered a hard case from Ted Baker as they are so pretty but at £35 they are a little pricey. I then decided to look on Shopstyle - an amazing website for searching hundreds of websites in a single search, and found this amazing one from Hobbs for only £10! I was so pleased as I'd have never looked on the Hobbs website. The case is amazingly well made and I just love the copper tumbled leather finish. I'm now tempted to get this matching e-book holder for my Kindle!

Pink Toned Nude Lipsticks
After years of buying nude lipsticks and then deciding they were I've too dark or too light I've finally discovered what tone suits my pale skin perfectly - rose/pink nudes. At the start of the week I re-organised my lipstick storage and realised 70% of the lipsticks I selected to be out of my desk were nudes and on swatching them on my hand it twigged... all my favourites are pink toned! It should have been obvious all along really but I'd never put them all together and seen how similar all my favourite shades are. So with re-organising my lipstick collection I've been opting for all my favourite nudes (shown above). Maybe a nude lipstick collection to come soon.

Swatches from top to bottom - Kiko Exotic Skine Lipstick in 01 (no longer available), Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Rosepout (£18.50 here) and Urban Decay Revolution in Native (£13.50 here).

Paperchase Postcards
60p each - Paperchase stores or Selfridges concessions
Last week I took a little trip to a Paperchase concession in Selfridges and picks up these lovely postcards that I intend to use as small prints either framed or pegged up on string. I was so impressed with the amount of typography postcards they had and have to pick up a few, I especially love the 'Be Cheerful' postcard, I also picked up two B&W photo postcards that are just lovely.

I already have a few prints from Paperchase in some ornate frames which I love (from Homesense) and think it's a great budget way to add interest to a shelf or fill a wall.
Now I just need to pick the right frame for the prints/postcards but I am planning an exciting trip to Ikea very soon so I'm sure I will find something there.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
£7.99 - Boots here
Just when I'd given up hope on ever finding a quality primer on the high street I discovered Maybelline's weirdly named Baby Skin Primer. In the past I've complained about high street primers doing so little (I'm looking at you Collection and Seventeen) but finally a little faith has been restored. The Maybelline primer is a lightweight silicone formula that lightly diffuses pores and creates a silky base to apply foundation over. I've been trying to minimise my use of it however due to primers breaking me out in the past but as I've been loving it so much I've used it 4 times in the last week or so and haven't had any problems! My only concern is that it wouldn't suit oily skin types as it does feel a little greasy on the skin.

Women's Health Flat Belly Meals Limited Edition Magazine
£7.99 - Most supermarkets (picked up from Tesco)
Over the past 7 week I've been losing weight... and enjoying it! However in the last 2 weeks my weight loss has slowed down somewhat so I decided instead of letting it deter me I would use it as a way of getting motivated again. So along with seeking out motivation through Pinterest and YouTube I picked up a book I spotted last month but decided against buying because I told myself I didn't need yet another recipe book. How wrong I was... this has to be the best thing I have bought so far for my weight loss journey (yes, I just called it that and now I'm cringing), well that and my Breville Blend Active.

This is just so much more than a recipe book... though the recipes are great! I've already learnt so much about nutrition from it when I really thought I knew a lot and I'm even re-evaluating how I feel about low-fat products. As for the recipes I've already tried Morning After Eggs; a yummy combination of new potatoes, spinach and egg with a chilli kick (only 158 cals) and a breakfast rice pudding that's so quick and yummy (under 200cals). As for this week I'm already planning on cooking Chilli Chicken & Mushroom Burgers and an amazing sounding Chocolate Souffle that's only 126 calories! Would highly recommend having a flick through this if you're in to healthy yummy eating!

Hope you enjoyed my favourites for this week and have a lovely weekend!

Fee xo.
