9 Cult Classic Fragrance Dupes

Perfume-Dupes-UK

For a while now I've been on a mission to find cheap alternatives for the high-end makeup products I love.

To me, this makes sense for three reasons - 1. It feeds my savvy nature and brings me joy 2. I have a much cheaper back-up product once I run out of my favourite and 3. I like 'dupes' for frivolous use. You know using on non-special occasions and for throwing in a handbag without worrying it will get damaged or worn looking.

From my favourite bronzer to endless Charlotte Tilbury products (you can see my huge CT dupe post here) I'm a woman obsessed!

So I'm now focusing on the best fragrance dupes, again that I can throw in my bag, spray liberally and use whenever I feel like it because the spend with a perfume dupe is always going to be low!

Below you will find quite a few fragrance dupes for some of the best-selling perfumes that all fit into the 'cult classics' category - I hope you find a dupe for your own favourite perfume here.

Chanel-Coco-Mademoiselle-Dupe

1. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle (50ml EDP, £86)
Lidl Suddenly Madame Glamour - In-store (50ml EDP, £4.99)

Chanel's oriental floral fragrance is one that is instantly recognisable if you have worn or smelt it before before. It's a wonderfully heady scent along with being long lasting, making it a statement perfume for a lot of premium fragrance fans.

But when I smelt Lidl's £4.99 version quite a few years ago I couldn't believe just how similar it was. With the same jasmine and rose notes but with a slightly citrus edge it's an amazing Coco Mademoiselle dupe for everyday wear.

While the bottle is pretty cheap looking and it does smell like a lighter version (which some may actually prefer) the scent is practically the same. A fragrance dupe hard to tell isn't the real thing!

Lidl is a good shout for popular fragrance dupes in general, from Dior J'Adore to Terry Mugler Alien to name but a few.

Marc-Jacobs-Daisy-Perfume-Dupe

2. Marc Jacobs Daisy (100ml EDT, £82)
Avon Eve Truth  (50ml EDP, £15.00)

Over the years Marc Jacobs Daisy has become pretty iconic and for good reason. This sweet floral perfume is uplifting and perfect for the spring/summer months. It's also a scent that if you've worn it you will instantly recognise it on others. I can't get enough of it!

But thankfully there's a pretty impressive dupe from Avon that smells the exactly like it and was in fact created by French perfumer Laurent Le Guernec, who has actually worked on another Marc Jacobs fragrance!

If you are someone that is dubious about fragrance dupes there's also a handy travel size version available which is the perfect way to try it out - Avon Eve Truth Eau de Perfum Purse Spray 10ml (£6).

YSL-Black-Opium-dupe

 3. YSL Black Opium (50ml EDP, £80)
Superdrug Layering Lab Exotic (100ml Body Mist, £3.99)

If you love intensely sweet yet spicy scents then hopefully you will have tried YSL Black Opium.

This is one stunning fragrance that has gained in popularity over the years but does sadly come with quite a heft price tag, as a lot of premium fragrances do these days!

But thanks to Superdrug's Layering Lab Body Mist's range there's now an inexpensive dupe that basically smells exactly like it! Yes, it sounds too good to be true but trust me, no one will know the difference!

The only drawback is it doesn't last as long but that can definitely be overlooked for the £3.99 price tag!

YSL-Black-Opium-Superdrug-Dupe

Due to the amazing popularity of the Layering Lab range there's now a whole collection of products from Body Wash to Bath Bombs available.

But most importantly a Eau De Toilette perfume of the amazing YSL Black Opium Dupe. Layering Lab EDT 100ml is only £7.99 and as you would expect has a much better longevity than the body mist.

Viktor-and-Rolf-Flowerbomb-Dupe

4. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb (50ml EDP, £78)
Milton Lloyd Summertime (55ml EDT, £2.50)

Flowerbomb is one of my all time favourite fragrances. As the grenade-shaped bottle suggests, this is one floral explosion, and one I can't get enough of.

But like all premium fragrances it comes with quite the price tag, and while I will forever repurchase it, I'd love to have a dupe that I can throw in my handbag to top up with throughout the day.

This is where Milton Lloyd's Summertime comes in.  While it doesn't look like much at all it's basically the exact same scent with less sillage.

I've tried a few Milton Lloyd fragrance dupes and they have all impressed me so I will be picking this up ASAP. I really can't wait to try it!

If you know of any other Flowerbomb dupes please do let me know as I can't get enough of this scent.

Thierry-Mugler-Alien-Dupe

5. Thierry Mugler Alien (90ml EDP, £100)
Superdrug Layering Lab Blossom - (100ml Body Mist, £3.99)

I featured this perfume dupe in a recent best makeup dupes post and so I couldn't leave it out here as I know Thierry Mugler Alien is a favourite amongst many.

It's also such a unique fragrance that is very recognisable which is why I've been so impressed with Superdrug's Layering Lab range, managing to achieve such a similar scent.

The fragrance dupe range also consists of a Layering Lab Blossom EDT 100ml fragrance for £7.99 (something I had to pick up - I love it!) along with a whole range of bath products. If you're a fan of Thierry Mugler Alien you will be obsessed with this range!

Jo-Malone-Pomegrante-perfume-dupe

6. Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir (100ml Cologne, £100)
Primark Pomegranate and Black Tea - In-store (100ml EDP, £8)

If you haven't visited the beauty section of Primark recently you may be surprised to see an entire range of Jo Malone inspired fragrances they now stock.

So while you may want to head down to Primark and smell them all in a bid to find your favourite Jo Malone dupe I thought I would share a fragrance dupe for Jo Malone's most loved scent - Pomegranate Noir.

This is a deep scented fragrance that has been cleverly duped by Primark and although it's not spot on, it's similar and without a doubt worth £8!

If you're a Jo Malone fan in general, Aldi are another huge stockist of Jo Malone dupes from hand wash to candles and even reed diffusers.

Lacome-La-Vie-Est-Belle-Dupe

7. Lancome La Vie Est Belle (100ml EDP, £99.50)
Lidl Aura En Rose - In-store (100ml EDP, £4.99)

Lancome's La Vie Est Belle is my mum's signature fragrance so when I tried Lidl's Aura En Rose I was shocked at how familar it smelt... and then I realised - it's a dupe!

As you can expect with such cheap perfumes the sillage/staying power is much less however on first application it's just as strong and then fades to something softer than the original fragrance.

Lidl's Aura En Rose is a total hidden gem that deserves a lot more love. Also for the price the packaging is surprisingly chic compared to some perfume dupes.

Estee-Lauder-Bronze-Goddess-Dupe

8. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess (100ml EDP, £85)
Next Summer Sun (100ml EDP, £14)

Come summer Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess is a go-to fragrance for many and for good reason - it's summer in a bottle. Giving a sense of hot days and holidays with a mix of floral notes and coconut this is one dreamy scent.

But what if there was a dupe? Thanks to Next we have Summer Sun, which is just as beachy and gorgeous!

Next-Bronze-Goddess-Dupe

It's also a fraction of the cost & can be purchased with an accompanying body lotion, perfect to use after a day in the sun.

Side note: Next are the underdog's of fragrance dupes so it's worth heading in-store to try them all out!

Dior-Jadore-Perfume-Dupe

9. Dior J'adore (100ml EDT, £94)
Zara Rose (100ml EDT, £11.99)

Dior J'adore has been around for years and is one luxury smelling scent. It's also a scent that if you love it you are loyal to it.

But an inexpensive dupe can't hurt, right? Especially if you like Dior J'adore but could never justify the price.

Again, Zara is one of those high street retailers that is known for having a number of fragrance dupes and while the name and bottle generally don't give the dupe away it's worth heading into store to  pick up a few tester strips.

Zara Rose is a wonderful Dior J'adore dupe and for the under £12 set it's quite a bargain.

Best Zara Perfume Dupes include: Apple juice for Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Rose Gold for Michael Kors by Michael Kors, Powdery Magnolia for Chloe Chloe and Black Amber for Dolce & Gabbana The One.
