Be More French with John Paul Gaultier + Giveaway

This post is an advertised collaboration with Boots but all thoughts are my own

There's no denying when it comes to all things chic we look to the French. Their
simplistic yet perfected style, makeup and hair reflects the elegant French cities and unique culture. Which is why I and I know many others love to take inspiration to create a little Parisian femininity though makeup looks, style and of course fragrance.

So today in conjunction with the exciting launch of the new Jean Paul Gaultier perfume; Scandal A Paris, which as you may have guessed has taken Parisian inspiration to create a fragrance that's sophisticated and timeless, I wanted to share how I add french touches to my own look. Plus I'm here to share an exciting giveaway for your own chance to win a bottle of the new Scandal fragrance!

French Makeup

Starting with makeup, I, of course, have my everyday go-to makeup look, think soft nude smokey eye with a nude lip. But at times I like to go for something different, think dressed up simply makeup that still works for every day but looks amazing. This is I guess what you would call French chic; simple yet bold and done precisely - a makeup look that is timeless.

For this, it's all about well-groomed yet full brows, a simple yet neat eyeliner flick and of course a bold red lip. A neatly applied red lip suits everyone, however, tone is important to consider I always feel. Personally, a classic bold red lip against my fair skin looks more evening than day however any kind of red with an orange undertone flatters my skin tone, warming it up and looks polished yet effortless!

As for the eyes, I always find it best to keep everything simple. Keeping the eyelid free of colour for a French look, looks amazing but if like me you can't resist some colour or you find mascara smudges without, a simple light wash of colour with a soft matte eyeshadow works well. Then a flick of liquid eyeliner and a coat of mascara and you're done!

French Style

Style-wise, keeping it simple yet chic seems to work for the French. When wearing a red lip during the day I almost always opt for a Breton-stripe top or jumper paired with skinny jeans and flats - it simply works! However, to feel more dressy, long flared trousers with a tucked in t-shirt or blouse works perfectly. As for accessories, again I feel going simple is the way to go, accessorising with a pretty silk scarf on my handbag or faux pearl hair pins to keep a messy bun in place.

French style will never go out of fashion which is why it's great to take inspiration from... I know I own my fair share of Breton jumpers!

French Fragrance

Fragrance simply completes a look, doesn't it? I know I feel like I'm ready to face the world once I've sprayed my favourite perfume. I personally love feminine, floral fragrances that are fresh yet sweet, which is why I'm adoring Scandal A Paris by Jean Paul Gaultier. A truly stunning fragrance for summer and something that smells and feels timeless.

Original fans of Scandal will be pleased to know the signature sweet honey note is still there but is now paired with intoxicating tuberose, sandalwood and Tonka bean for an even more addictive blend that is perfect for everyday wear and even into the evening.

As for the bottle, it's elegant yet fun, with the perfectly crafted metal lid making me instantly think of Moulin Rouge! If you are looking for a feminine and elegant new signature scent then I highly recommend picking up this stunning new fragrance.
